Teacher Eval

Remember teacher evaluations? I just finished a mandatory class at Georgia State, and it made me extremely grateful for the education I’ve been afforded in my life. An excerpt from my evaluation:

The level of rigor of the course is that of a junior high elective. I now realize why there are so many ineffective teachers in this state: evidently, the road to “highly qualified” status is nothing more than writing a (large) check and posting a few things on a discussion board. GSU and this professor should be disgusted by what they are doing to K-12 students in this state by setting such a low bar for educators.

Harsh enough for you? It only articulates about 50% of my rage. This class was such a waste of my time and monies. Worse still, it would sooner prepare me for a career as a janitor than as a teacher. I pity those who have an MAT from GSU. Sure, your moved up on the pay scale, but you haven’t become any more effective as an educator.
